Birmingham post-punk band MUTES are a super group of sorts containing members of God Damn and Viv Albertine. Formed as the solo project of guitarist and songwriter James Brown, MUTES are set to release their debut album No Desire on the 2nd of June. Their second album taster 'A Burial' shows the band harnessing their heavy side featuring headbang-inducing drums and fuzzed out guitars doing battle below Brown's grungy vocals. Brown explains, "I wrote it as a little ditty when I realised that being heavy wasn’t so frowned upon locally thanks to God Damn, Youth Man et al. Maybe I’m just too pretentious to admit that I like the song because I find it so ridiculous?" - HLMX
